A wedding in Saint Louis

Quite the trip I had this past weekend. Ever since my cousin, Lauren, announced she was getting married in November I have been really excited for the wedding.
It was a long seven-hour car ride through Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri; luckily I am good at falling a sleep where ever and was in good company. My Cousin was kind enough to invite my boyfriend, Jordan, along with my family and I, so it was fun. My boyfriend has been accepted as the tag-a-long friend and gets a long nicely with my family and is friendly to my younger brother.

Seeing my dad’s family is always nice. He has five total (including him) brothers and sisters. His brother’s eldest daughter was the one being married, the eldest of the cousins and the first to be married. Lauren moved to St. Louis to pursue a career in Architecture and St. Louis is probably the wisest choice, it has such beautiful homes and buildings there. Being back together with the whole family was fun, seeing that this is probably the start of a long line of the cousins not seeing each other much anymore. We usually all get together sometime around Christmas, but we’re all growing up and starting new things in our lives.
On Saturday morning we went to the Gateway Arch to the West and went to the top inside of it to gaze upon the city of St. Louis. I now have bragging rights to tell people I been there and done that. After we had a bit of time to get ready and then head to the church to see my Cousin get married. It was a lovely ceremony and I only got choke up once. One of my cousin’s bride’s maids has brain cancer and seeing her being rolled down the isle beaming, just struck a cord with me. It is sad that she is so young and sick, but knowing that marriage was a new life and she might not get that chance just made me tear up. She was so happy though to be to take part.

The wedding reception was fabulous, held at the local Glass factory. Gorgeous displays of glass and while waiting for the wedding party, we got a demonstration from the people there. And of course there was food, dancing, and cake. My boyfriend Jordan caught his fifth wedding garter even when he didn’t want to go up and he didn’t even try to catch it. It hit him square in the chest. It was a very well organized and put on wedding.
I hope the best for Mark and Lauren. It was a good weekend.
